The artwork depicts Dr. Alfonso de Nicola (Longano, 1885 - deported 1944), a dermatologist doctor from Molise, a graduate of the University of Naples, who served as a volunteer in Argentina and then moved to Trieste, where he carried out his professional activities, giving care to Jewish patients. He was taken home by the Nazis and never returned.
