Work accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Musei Veneziani d'Arte e di Storia, signed by Giovanni Mariacher on June 4th, 1973

The work is a preparatory sketch for the main painting that made up the cycle of ¿The Thousand and One Nights,¿ created for the Terminus hotel on the Venice Lido in 1914. The hotel was destroyed during the bombings of World War II, but the paintings were saved and some of them are now kept at Ca'Pesaro, the Museum of Modern Art in Venice.
The handwritten label on the back confirms the genesis of the pictorial cycle, of which this work is an integral part, attributable to the novella ¿Aladdin and the Magic Lamp¿, which makes up the collection of the same name, ¿Arabian Novelles,¿ translated by Antoine Galland.
