The work depicts the young physician Pietro de Nicola (Bologna, 1919 - Pavia, 1993), professor of Gerontology and Geriatrics at the University of Pavia from 1968 to 1990. He founded and developed in the world the School of Specialty in Gerontology and Geriatrics and was awarded with the citizenship of São Paulo, Brazil, for initiating the study of these subjects on Brazilian soil.
